Diversity in Action

Throughout this school year in Room 20, we have been celebrating diversity. Our diversity takes many forms ~ our culture, ethnicity, race, language, gender, learning styles, levels of motivation, likes and dislikes. The forms of diversity are endless. The challenges we face are to learn about our classmates and to accept and embrace these differences unconditionally.

Earlier this year in Room 20, we read The Colors of Us by Karen Katz. This book celebrates "the differences and similarities that connect all people through the eyes of a little girl who begins to see her familiar world in a new way." On Friday, Room 20 students celebrated our own differences and similarities by photographing the "colors of us!"

Steam Engine Energy Show

Mr. Musselman, Burlington Public School's Science Specialist, visited Fox Hill School today, presenting a Steam Engine Energy Show to Fox Hill's 4th grade students. The kids ably answered questions demonstrating what they learned during our energy unit. Mr. Musselman was very impressed with the kids' knowledge and commented on their respectful behavior during the show. Enjoy the following photos from today's show!

The Boston Bruins open the 2016-2017 season on Thursday, October 13 in Ohio against the Columbus Blue Jackets. What better way to mark this occasion than with a Fox Hill "Bruins Day!" So, if you have a Bruins t-shirt or jersey, please wear it to school tomorrow. If you don't, then just wear anything with the Bruins' colors ~ black and gold. Go Bruins!

Religious Holidays

While we continue to conduct school on Jewish High Holidays, our practice is to be sensitive to those students who celebrate these holidays.  Accordingly, tests will not be scheduled during the days of Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur.  In addition, students who celebrate these holidays are being provided extra time for any homework or long-term assignments due during these significant celebrations.
