"Understanding and Helping My Child with Homework" Workshop

Last night, Fox Hill hosted a workshop for parents on "Understanding and Helping My Child With Homework." Approximately 20 parents attended, and from comments I heard, parents enjoyed and appreciated the workshop.

Mrs. Jaffe, Ms. Stone, Mrs. Lisano, Ms. Greene, and I presented the workshop in partnership with Fox Hill Principal, Mrs. Johnson, to help you, parents, in supporting your child with homework.

Homework is an important part of school life, and we want to support parents and children in every way we can.

Below is the slide show presentation shared at the workshop. Enjoy!

Lowell Mills Visits Fox Hill

On Monday, November 7, Fox Hill 4th graders learned about immigrants coming to America through the Tsongas Industrial History Center's (Lowell Mills) "Exploring the Immigrant Experience" program. Through this program, students examined the experiences of those who have settled in New England in the late 1800s through the 2000s. Working with primary sources (oral histories and artifacts), students explored elements of the immigrant story ~ the decision to leave their homeland, the journey, hardships, assimilation, preserving culture, and how immigrant groups have helped to shape American culture.

Successful Rocket Launching Day!

Under mostly cloudy skies, with above average fall temperatures and a light northwesterly breeze, the annual Grade 4 Rocket Launching Day took flight on Wednesday, November 9th. Mr. Musselman, Ms. Pavlicek, and Mrs. Hogan of the Burlington Science Center, wowed the crowd of students, parents, and teachers with their energized lesson on rocket launching. All participants and attendees had a great time as this year's 4th graders launched their rockets high above Fox Hill!

October Students of the Month

I am pleased to announce that Room 20's October Students of the Month are Mannat S. and Sean T. Both Mannat and Sean demonstrated Fox Hill and Room 20 values throughout the month by being responsible, respectful, safe, and kind to all with whom they interacted. Their dedication to putting in a concerted effort, completing homeroom when due, and helping others was obvious to their classmates and me throughout the month. Congratulations to Mannat and Sean for this highly deserved honor.
